The Project
For too long, tourism success has been reduced to a narrow set of volume-driven indicators: visitor arrivals, expenditure, and hotel occupancy. While useful, these metrics capture only a fraction of what tourism truly produces — and what it costs — for a place.
Open Source Methodology
By making our processes transparent, adaptable, and openly accessible, we enable collective intelligence, creativity, and critical engagement. This openness allows communities, researchers, and practitioners to build, remix, and apply indicators that reflect their own realities—ensuring measurement is not imposed from the top down, but co-created and locally meaningful.
